Music by the Stringwood Trio
Most of the tunes from our demo album are now available in MP3 format - Please click here for a list of demo tunes.

Following the demo list, you will find a list of tunes in midi format* which are suitable for a wedding ceremony. We have included the title, composer, and which part of the ceremony it may be suitable for. We've divided it into two sections - "classics", or well-known wedding standards; and "other", which are tunes we find work well for weddings but may not be as well known.
The first list is designed mainly as a helpful tool to jog your memory, if you're having difficulty remembering "that song". To that end, we have only included the beginning, or first part, of each tune.
The second list is for those who may want to venture away from the standards. For this set, we've also listed what general style or "feel" they might fall under, e.g. "baroque/stately" or "celtic/lilting", etc. As well, we've tried wherever possible to provide the complete tune.
*If you're wondering, what's a midi file? or how can I play MP3's? then click here
We also have an extensive repertoire of non-wedding-specific pieces for dinners & other functions, including seasonal music for Christmas parties, etc. - just ask!

Notes On Several Wedding "Standards":
"Trumpet Voluntary" by Jeremiah Clarke is also known as "The Prince of Denmark's March".
What most people refer to as "The Wedding March" (by Mendelssohn) is the march from A Midsummer's Night's Dream, and is typically used as a recessional (as the wedding party leaves the church), not a processional.
The piece often referred to as "Here Comes the Bride" is properly titled "The Bridal Chorus" (from Lohengrin, by Wagner).

*MIDI FORMAT - Midi is a way of putting music into a format that takes up very little space. Midi tunes are made up of synthesized sounds (unlike MP3 or wav files, which can accurately reproduce live music). As a result, please remember the tunes will sound much nicer when you hear them played live! The midi files are just there to give you a basic idea of the melody structure. To hear what the trio really sounds like, you can listen to our demo album (if you are having trouble playing or downloading our demo tunes, we can also send copies of our demo via surface mail - just ask!)

If you don't already have the capability to play midi or MP3 files, these media players are available online:

The following books have been helpful in our arranging and choices of wedding tunes:
"The Joy of Wedding Music" by Denes Agay, "Wedding Music for Flute and Lever Harp" by Ernie Brock, and "Five Pieces for Harp, Flute and Cello" by Maureen Thomas.
Arranging of Celtic tunes for the trio is mostly done by Tanah Haney (trio harpist); Sally Wolf (trio flutist) has done some arrangement of classical pieces; and we have also enjoyed using Patricia Jaeger's collection, "Folk Harp with a Friend".
